I wanted to start a blog, and I wanted to try Hugo since I tried Grav, and didn’t immediately love it.
To start, I needed a theme. While I was digging through the themes on the Hugo site, I came across this one. While its certainly unorthodox for a blog, I spend enough time fiddling around in a terminal that I simply couldn’t pass it up. I had some difficulties getting it exactly the way I wanted, but eventually I got it most of the way to looking the way I was imagining. Hosting was an entirely seperate challenge, but I’ll write more about that later.
While this site is super cool and I intend to keep it updated as a CV, I fear it may be one of the worst ways to read a blog. My hope is that the CV part will be quite fitting since my profession is on the techier side, but I’ll need to feel that out. The other problem is that the content is also likely non-existent to search engines, and even if it is, I don’t want to drive people away. I really only view that as a problem since I spend quite a bit of time looking at small blogs to fix my niche tech issues, and I’d love if it my blog provided the same help for others. Can’t do that if it’s not visible to search engines!
Yep, my solution to the problem above is to host two whole websites. My official blog is ian.narewski.org
Since I really do love the idea of having a command line interface for my own website, I’ll keep this one updated with all the posts as well. I might remove some content from posts, provide abridged versions, or even only have a short summary with a link to the full post, but I haven’t decided yet.
For now, thanks for visiting! I’ll be sure to get this cleaned up for your nerdy viewing pleasure.
